Adult Swim's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.
In October of last year, Adult Swim saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, not long after, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, evoking a animated take of a laid-back talk show. During a period often defined by dark humor, this show's earnestness found an audience and turned it into a surprise hit.
A Two-Season Greenlight
In mid-December, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters.
"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who welcomed the series and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."
A President's Endorsement
Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky style.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to evolve comedy past its long-running layer of irony. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.
“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”
Future Seasons
Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well help usher in that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to experience the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.
The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
